Luis Toro

Luis Toro is a self-taught visual artist creating abstract portraiture. His body of work is intriguing and captivating and showcases a unique and personal evolution.

His works are the result of a constant construction and deconstruction, a battle between chaos and order, from a total disfigurement of a human face to more defined figures, they range from bold to delicate, colorful, and explosive, and are loaded with impasto and heavy textures, all fueled by his intuition and inner thoughts during the creation process all together making a symbiotic clash of shapes and colors.

His work brings abstraction contained in silhouettes with the intent of transcending from the material world into the soul, from what we only see with our eyes into the intangible world of emotions. According to his own words, his portraits serve as spiritual mirrors.
